How’s the morning sickness?
Is it…a good thing?
Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?
Or do you know and you’re not going to tell me?
What names do you have picked out?
Was it…planned?
You’re not going to carry that are you?
Be careful… don’t fall.
When are you due?
Don’t fall –
Oh! Can I help you with that?
Are you sure you should be…
Are you planning to breastfeed?
You are going to breastfeed, aren’t you?
Careful! (Don’t fff– )
When’s the next one coming?

Sorry for my absence over the last few days...I've been feeling VERY tired. I DO plan, however, to go back and read/re-read/memorize every poem I missed...

This is lots of fun (love the title) and also educational; I'll never ask a pregnant woman a question again!
Just one thing... I wonder if it would be more effective to say "lift" instead of "carry" for a moment I was confused (the idea of carrying the child) and I think that lift gives that idea of bulk and weight. Just my $.02
Don't misunderstand me - I'm not castigating people for having questions or being curious. That's natural - pregnancy is one of the more dramatic (and obvious) transmogrifications there is.
I suppose I was targeting the passive aggressive comments - the ones that presume an intimacy that doesn't exist or that suggest that you are somehow negligent.
That said, I WAS trying to have some fun with it.
Totally fun. I liked the use of the couplet as the play between 2 people.
That said, I wanted to see more of these, more of the absurd/normal(?) questions people seem to ask of a pregnant woman.
who wouldn't be tired after endless questions? Agree with Tracy that it would be interesting to see this expanded - maybe into even more personal questions from family members?
I can see parts of this being read as a monologue, a bunch of rapid-fire questions. I too like the couplets, AND also wonder about playing with form. Maybe having some questions strung together, some on their own. Definitely room to expand and to add more questions as people ask you. Like the repetition of fall throughout, love (Don't fff-)
