in alfama we understand
why the portuguese
are known as navigators

no landmarks among continuous,
white-washed houses,
unmarked cafes,
the same laundry
limp from every
second-storey window

map like shards
of clay plate
carelessly glued,
the only direction
we’re sure of:
up

I love the same laundry limp...

this is simply a wonderful piece... thank you once again for the journey, with so few words you have taken me so far away
