Prelude to nocturne

Salt moon dissolves in stir of afternoon sun.
An east wind surrenders up the tinkling
of shop bells, ice cream bikes.
The backyard is ghosted
by the children who once
lived here. Skipping rope
knotted in branches, plastic
frisbee lost on the shed roof.

Tight and evocative.

I wonder about the 'a' in the title. Doesn't seem needed. And I also wonder about the 'or'--I keep want to read it as 'and' and I feel like there needs to be a 'to' after surrenders.

Thanks for those keen suggestions Marita. I re-edited it...

I don't know what a salt moon is, but I really like that image in the first line!
