A site for May Day, an effort of poets from Winnipeg and beyond, taking place for the eleventh time in May 2015.
OHMYGOSH - that would be hard. I'd be like, smack - oops - sorry!I apologize incessantly and reflexively. How would that work in a boxing ring???? I hope I get to try someday :)Oh, right - this poem was great. :)
only one word i might think of chaging is fender - had trouble imagining a glove becoming a fender which made me think of a car.maybe - instead of "like fender" - fendering? or another word altogether.
Mmm. The idea of something foreign (like a car's fender) hurting someone works for me...Because fighting with gloves and not bare knuckles changes the dynamic somehow, doesn't it? It makes it civilized somehow...The idea working in the last stanza really resonates too. That our instinct is not fight or flight anymore, but instead stand stockstill or apologize. Thanks!
