mirror

you’ve only ever used a mirror
to shrug at wayward curls

never primped
powdered
glossed
brushed
blushed
waxed
or tweezed

but now you can’t pass
without switching into stance,
tucking chin, lifting fists,
throwing quick one-twos
at your reflection
until you’re satisfied
with the ridges of muscle
flashing along your arms

I like this... like the sense of satisfaction that comes through, the sense of accomplishment.

I wondered about one thing: could the middle section be omitted? That's all implied in the first two lines, and leaving it out would bring the focus more strongly onto the last stanza.
