(seven)

behind a pretty face she hides
behind her smile there lies
a grief too big to say.
her camouflage in place
she leaves
for:
................................work
................................coffee shop
................................Safeway
................................Dr. Silvers
................................date
.
returning to her blue walls, exhausted
she strips her smile along with her makeup
then lets out a sigh as she plunges into
the cozy blue armchair
that will cradle her gently
while she wishes the world away.

OOohh...mignon mais triste.

(like how you faded the text in that list!)

"too big to say": maybe, "too large to speak/for words" or something even less cliché than my suggestion...

love this: "she strips her smile along with her makeup"

the essence of any writing is the quality of the storytelling...and in your few, exact words you have given us a clear story and poked our curiosity about the life and the motives of the protagonist in question, given us a place and a mood with which me may identify...certainly, some words may ask you to replace them with others that might sharpen the meaning, flow differently, or simply just look more appropriate on the page/space(I believe every good piece of writing makes that request of its author)...but your sense of time and space and emotion is so very well wrought and, as always, so wonderfully spare and bright...nice poem, nice writing

Hidden ?? What does she hid ??
Love how you faded your To-Do list about life.. Must admit the "strips her smile along..." is a very good image.
Still wonder how many Dr. Silvers out there, prescribe Blue Pills so people can gently cradle into a world away.
