The evening scent unfurls
blue banks of iris,
sharp green cut grass
and almost black
charring burgers.
Spring dreams slide away
with the neighbors’ cat
jumping on my bed
then out the back door.
Clouds still rain-full
shift into darkness
dotted with streetlights,
distant traffic lullabies
sing their way through
new-leafed sweet gums,
while peonies prepare
their pink explosions
for morning.

Mmmm, sounds like we were in the same place this evening! I like the final three stanzas especially.
..and I especially like the first stanza..

The imagery is lovely. "Dotted with streetlights" is my favourite line/stanza.
After reading "the evening scent unfurls" I was worried this was going to be like many poems I've already read, but then "blue banks of iris". A lovely switch from scent to sight. Unexpected. The imagery is fresh, such as peonies exploding. A lot of alliteration which works with the dense rich imagery. I wonder at your stanza breaks. Perhaps they could all be couplets or three line stanzas?
